Recipe: Creamy & Fresh Strawberry Milkshake

Funnily enough, I never was a huge fan of strawberry milkshakes growing up because I would find the strawberry flavour to be quite artificial and too sweet. That being said, we were given a huge bag of ripe frozen strawberries a few weeks ago  that needed to be eaten and so, this delicious, creamy, perfectly-sweet strawberry milkshake was born!! It also happens to be dairy-free and refined sugar free.

Creamy & full of fresh strawberry flavour – minus the excess sugar and artificial flavouring!

Of course this milkshake is not only delicious but also something your body will love! It is…

This recipe has quickly become a staple in my weekly rotation of snacks and desserts and I hope it becomes the same for you.

Recipe: Creamy & Fresh Strawberry Milkshake

Gluten-free, dairy-free

Prep: 5 minutes
Yields 2 large milkshakes

Ingredients:

2.5 cups ripe strawberries, frozen*
200ml canned full-fat coconut milk (1/2 a can)
1/4 cup oat or almond milk**
1 large ripe banana
1 tsp vanilla extract
2-3 tbsp raw honey
Pinch salt

To Make:

  1. Add ingredients to a blender in the order listed.
  2. Blend on high until smooth and well combined. Add more almond/oat milk if needed to get things moving in the blender.
  3. Taste and adjust to your preference. Add more strawberries for a stronger strawberry flavour or more honey for extra sweetness.
  4. Divide among 2 glass mugs or cups and enjoy!

Notes:

*Fresh, frozen strawberries are best for optimal flavour but bagged frozen ones will also work well.

**The additional oat or almond milk is optional and this depends on the strength of your blender as yours may need a bit more liquid to get moving along. Add a little at a time as we want to maintain the thick and creamy consistency!
